Starvation Mode by Elissa Washuta (Cowlitz Indian Tribe)
Her succinct style has a finality to it that I understand and appriciate. I don’t know what to say. I was sad for her, I was angry at some of the situations an I wanted to help. This is a good, and very short book. I learned about one person’s battle with an eating disorder and I am eager to read more by Washuta.
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
These retellings of Norse stories are a wonderful introduction into the lore for a beginner, or a great alternate version for those familiar. Gaiman is, as always, adept at drawing in his audience. He remains true to the stories origins while telling them in his own voice and style.
